Terms of use

Beacon Family Locator · RWD Industries LLC, Texas, USA · Effective 20 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and RWD Industries LLC ("we") for using Beacon. By using Beacon you agree to them.

Beacon is not an emergency service. It doesn't contact police, fire or ambulance services and doesn't replace 911. Alerts depend on battery, signal, permissions and the people in your circle. Always call your local emergency number when you can.

Using Beacon

Safety features are free

SOS, emergency alerts, the Beacon Network relay, the live family map and Lighthouses are free and will stay free. Beacon is supported by ads on adult profiles and by an optional paid plan that covers convenience features only.

Beacon Plus (optional subscription)

No guarantee

We work hard to make Beacon reliable, but we can't promise it will always work: phones lose signal and power, operating systems limit background activity, and networks fail. Beacon is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, RWD Industries LLC and its members are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss or harm arising from an alert, location or message that was not sent, delivered, accurate or seen. Our total liability for any claim relating to Beacon is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Beacon in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Indemnity

You agree to cover any claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your misuse of Beacon or your breach of these terms, including tracking someone without their consent.

Disputes

Before filing a claim, contact us so we can try to resolve it informally within 30 days. Either of us may bring a claim in small-claims court. Otherwise, claims must be brought in the state or federal courts in Texas, and each side gives up the right to a jury trial and to bring a class action, to the extent the law allows.

Changes and ending use

We may update these terms; we'll post the new version here and tell you in the app before material changes take effect. You can stop using Beacon and delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.

App stores

If you got Beacon from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms. Google Play's terms apply to downloads from Google Play.
